National Register of Historic Places for Biloxi, Mississippi

 

Biloxi, Mississippi was once inhabited by the Biloxi Indians. This city is filled with shrimping and oyster history. It lies within the boundaries of Harrison County.

Pierre LeMoyne d’Iberville explored Biloxi and Biloxi Bay; he erected Fort Maurepas. Biloxi is home to Barq’s Root Beer. This factory was founded by Edward Adoph Barq, Sr. during 1898.

Biloxi, Mississippi is also the location of Keesler Air Force Base. Moreover, Biloxi has the home of Jefferson Davis. The Biloxi citizens celebrate with Shrimp Boils, have the Nike Classic, annually partake of The Nutcracker and The Messiah plus Christmas on the Coast, and enjoy Cruising the Coast and the Blessing of the Shrimp Fleet.

They also celebrate WCPR Fest, Country Cajun Crawfish Festival, Cobia Tournament, the Great Biloxi Schooner Races, the Professional Cowboy Championship Finals, Gulf Coast Night Parade, Orange Grove Kids Parade, Biloxi Secondliners, St. Patrick’s Parade & 5k Run in addition to Confederate Memorial Day.
